Combining the explosive energy of Foo Fighters, Weezer on steroids and a Green Day punch, the four piece Australian rock band EMPRA have released their debut single I Won’t Give Up and are kicking arse and lifting spirits across Australia.
It’s been a long hard road for Melbourne rock musicians Sanny Veloo (Lead Vocals/Guitars), Matt Agius (Bass), Matt Gaulty (Guitars/BVs) and Matt Cattanach (Drums) of EMPRA. Meeting on the Melband Internet Forum, they have survived the death of a band member and best mate, an elbow replacement surgery, two incarnations, seven lineup changes, a botched album recording session and personal challenges to finally record, release and perform their powerful debut album “I Won’t Give Up”. It only took them three years!
The album is produced by famed Melbourne rock producer Ricky Rae (Electric Mary, Freestate). It features high energy rock songs such as “I Won’t Give Up”, “Doesn’t Make Much Sense”, “Like A Runaway”, “Only Love” and “One of These Days” which have such an anthemic appeal that they electrocute your heart and supercharge your spirits into a euphoric sing-a-long. The earnest lyrics tell the story of overcoming your personal demons, love, love lost and even death. It features stellar guest musicians like Wally de Backer of Gotye who played keyboards and samples on an epic ballad called “Sabrina”. The album captures the band with such intensity and is delivered with such passion that it is bound to inspire. EMPRA’s debut album is dedicated to dearly departed punk rock legend Wayne Thunder of The SUNS, who was Sanny’s best mate of 16 years.
EMPRA is reminiscent of Foo Fighters, Green Day, Weezer and Led Zeppelin with a good dose of Australian hard rock attitude. Overflowing with positive vibes and uplifting energy, EMPRA’s high energy rock show will kick your arse and lift your spirits. The band are currently performing all across Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and country Victoria and continue to build a fast growing fan base across the country. EMPRA will be releasing their debut album I Won’t Give Up in May 2012 and will be touring Australia in the second half of the year.
